ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Anaheim Ducks on Sunday signed center Samuel Pahlsson to a two-year contract extension through the 2008-09 season.

After reaching the Western Conference finals last spring, the Anaheim Ducks began this season with lofty expectations. They've done nothing to dispel them so far. Behind Ilya Bryzgalov's 34 saves, the Ducks improved to 2-0 with a 2-1 victory over Phoenix Saturday night. Teemu Selanne and Dustin Penner each scored for Anaheim, which beat Los Angeles 4-3 one night earlier.

The Anaheim Ducks re-signed Zenon Konopka to a two-year contract and will send him to its Portland Pirates affiliate in the American Hockey League, the team announced Saturday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Konopka, 25, split the 2005-06 season between Anaheim and Portland. He had four goals, three assists and 48 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Ducks, and 44 points and 57 penalty...

Joel Perrault scored a power-play goal with 24.8 seconds left in overtime to lift the Phoenix Coyotes past the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in both teams' preseason finale. Ed Jovanovski faked a shot from the top of the right circle before passing to Perrault at the bottom of the circle. Perrault one-timed the puck off Jean-Sebastian Giguere from the tight angle for the game-winner.

Penner began the scoring with a wrist shot on a 2-on-0 rush at 9:22 of the second period.

Second-year defenseman Kevin Dallman had two goals and two assists, and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks 7-1 Monday night in the exhibition opener for both teams. The Atlanta Thrashers traded prospect Karl Stewart and draft options to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday for veteran defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski. In addition to Stewart, who had 22 goals and 18 assists in 71 games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last season, the Ducks get a second-round selection in the 2007 NHL entry draft and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2008.
